IN COLLABORATION WITH CARMANS

FOR Interreg Meuse-Rhine Euregion

YEAR 2023

Wanderful Stream aims to coach and guide small and medium-sized enterprises free of charge in the transition to a more circular economy. It wants to point out the added value of interdisciplinary collaboration across the borders of the Euregio and different business sectors. Wanderful.stream wants to make interdisciplinary cross-pollination around residual flows tangible by developing 40 prototypes of innovative products. Mapping challenges, needs and opportunities for the circular economy in the Meuse-Rhine Euregion. Literally and figuratively through online tools, but also through community events.

Making residual flows or materials visible to better match supply and demand. Is your company (interested in) a certain residual flow? Let us know now, because it might become a raw material for new products or a spark for new ideas.

For this project I worked together with Carmans concrete, optimising there Blueblocks. And the project Unending, how to make stronger fruit boxes and what to do with the damaged ones.

DESIGN ROEL VANDEBEEK

IN COLLAB WITH AVC GEMINO

YEAR 2021

RED DOT DESIGN AWARD

Space-R® is a new invention by AVC Gemino. Patent is pending. AVC Gemino is a Belgian company specialising in vertical space partitioning. These imagineers of space(s) always seek out the perfect blend of aesthetics, functionality, flexibility, durability and acoustics. The creative team fuses imagination and engineering to create a unified whole.

With his solution we won the Red Dot Design Award and the Henry van de Velde Label, a prominent recognition for products that excel in product design. We already see an increasing demand for our adaptable system solutions that combine flexibility with an attractive design and high-quality acoustics.

Create your own look and feel with a variety of materials, interfaces and add-on functionality.

Having a space where people can meet and work (together) is essential to employee wellbeing, health and productivity. However, due to challenging building joints and the variety of project participants, creating these spaces often runs into difficulties and frustration. Installing or moving walls takes considerable time, energy and money.

Space-R relegates these problems to a thing of the past. Its plug-and-play wall profiles are easy to install or relocate, and leave the floors and ceilings unscathed. This doesn’t mean compromising on design, either – thanks to mix-and-match material options. Space-R also provides excellent acoustics.

DESIGN ROEL VANDEBEEK

IN COLLAB WITH DOVY

FOR PROJECT 5X5

YEAR 2021

Twin consists of two slim, vertical handles placed right above each other, making it look like there is only one vertical handle for opening two cabinet doors. The left handle is right above the right handle. Or is it the other way around? Is the handle for opening the right cabinet door above the handle for opening the left cabinet door? Who knows. That depends on the user, who is left- or right-handed.

What is unique about this new handle is undeniably the surprising effect. When the cabinet doors are closed, you see a single vertical, slim line. You don't know which handle is meant for opening the left- or right-handed cabinet door. But the thoughtful aspect also plays a role: the convenience for the user to be able to open the cabinet doors with a handle while creating a visual refinement in the handle line of the kitchen.

In my search for a new visual value in the kitchen, I thought of accentuating the vertical lines by means of the door handles to increase the slimness and character. In practice, this means that a double handle must be placed next to each other to be able to open all cabinets. This dual use did not provide the finesse I was looking for.

By inventing Twin, these double handles are reduced to one handle that is divided according to the cupboard wall. This allows you to open up to 4 cabinets in two directions with one vertical trigger. Surprising, slim and thoughtful.

DESIGN ROEL VANDEBEEK

IN COLLAB WITH WARSCO UNITS

YEAR 2020

During the concept phase, I mainly went in search of a certain dynamic that can be integrated into the finish on the outside. This breaks through the recognizable basic shape of the unit and creates a playful and cuddly character. In my design, an extra outer jacket is draped over the unit. This makes it possible to slide open this covering like a 'curtain' at the height of the windows and doors, creating a dynamic image that also forms a symbiosis between the outer shell and the unit.

Starting from Warsco’s machine park, the elaboration of this unit can be done entirely indoors. This offers many advantages in terms of flexibility (customizability), control and pricing. The idea is that this concept can also be extended to other existing or new units, always tailor-made.
