YEAR 2025

How can a seating element blend into nature? This was the challenge I took on as a designer. Breaking through the linear character of standard benches formed the inspiration for this new design. Based on the graceful, natural, and unconventional character of the Maas and the surrounding nature, I arrived at the recycled plastic profiles of Govaplast. Besides the ecological aspect, they also offer the flexibility I was looking for in order to translate the dynamic image I had in mind.
In addition to the rounded shapes, the different lengths and positions of the basic profiles also contribute to the open character of this design. These ‘imperfections’ give the benches a unique design, making them both a sculpture and a seating object at the same time.
The collection consists of a number of basic configurations that can be combined with one another and adapted to the location.
Scoop is … created at the request of the municipality of Maasmechelen to design a unique, sustainable collection of street furniture that creates a connection between nature and urbanity.
Another first is that, through its long, flowing, and open play of lines, the Mosa collection leaves behind the dimensions of standard benches, turning them into sculptures in nature.
